Turkish central bank announces measures to strengthen financial markets
CBRT increases liquidity support and eases collateral conditions amid recent market developments
Türkiye’s central bank on Thursday announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening the functioning of financial markets and managing Turkish lira liquidity.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) said it reviewed its liquidity facilities in light of recent developments in financial markets.
Under the measures, the bank will increase the amount of funding provided through one-week repo auctions when necessary, taking market liquidity conditions into account.
The CBRT will also revise banks’ borrowing limits at its Interbank Money Market based on the banking system’s existing balance sheet aggregates.
In a further step to facilitate access to liquidity, collateral haircuts applied in the central bank’s markets will be revised downward.
“The CBRT will closely monitor the liquidity conditions and take any additional measure when needed,” the bank said.
